HISTORY OF GHANA ARMED FORCES SECONDARY TECHNICAL SCHOOL NAME: GHANA ARMED FORCES ESTABLISHED: 1991 GENDER: MIXED COLOUR: DARK BLUE AND PINK MOTTO: SERVICE WITH HUMILITY NICKNAME: MMARIMA MMA The school official name is Ghana Armed Forces Senior High Technical School - Kumasi. It was established on the 28th January 1991 as part of the One hundred and Forty - Six (146) Senior High Schools which were opened throughout the country under the education reforms programme which was started in 1987 with Junior Secondary School under the government of the Provisional National Defence Council (PNDC). The school started with twenty three (23) made up of seventeen boys and six girls as pioneers with six teachers. Initially, only technical and Vocational programmes were offered in the school until January 1995, when Business studies were introduced into the school curriculum. In january 1997, secretarial and General Arts students were also introduced. Since 2003, the school has introduced Elective Science and General Agricultural studies in the curriculum. The school has both boarding and day facilities for both boys and Girls. The Boarding status was approved by the headquarters Ghana Education Service effective the beginning of the 2006 / 2007 academic year.
