HISTORY OF TALPURS (43) ----------------------------------- ROLE OF ISMAILIS IN TOPPLING TALPUR RULE Fateh Ali Shah Kachar (Kajar), a king of Persia, ruled from 1794 till death 1834.He had 1000 wives and many sons. He was contemporary Monarch of Talpur .He was said to be the friend of Mir Fateh Ali Khan, a leading Sardar of Talpur and Baloachs and Head of first ChawoYari .Some studies suggest that Fateh Ali Shah Kachar offered Mir Ali Murad Khan Talpur to give his daughter in marriage. But Mir Ali Murad Khan Talpur refused to marry her, as he had grown old. This reflects intimate bilateral relations between Talpur and King Kachar or between Sindh and Persia (Iran). Agha Hasan Ali shah was hereditary Chieftain and 46 Th Imam of Ismaili Shiite Muslim .He was said to be the infamous prince of Persia. He was born to Shah Khalilullah the 45 th Imam in1804 .In 1817,when Hasan Ali was only 13, his father Shah Khalilullah was killed. After murder of his father, his relatives dispossessed his mother from the land holding and occupied. Resultantly financial position of his mother worsened. She went to King Fateh Ali Shah Kachar (Friend of Mir Fateh Ali Khan Talpur) and begged for the justice. King Kachar arrested and punished the killers of his father and also increased land holdings in Mahllat Region, to which they belonged. Mahallat is the name of District and now the Province of Iran.It has cold climate and a Tourism point. King gave his daughter in marriage of young Hasan Ali Shah, appointed him as the Governor of Qum and bestowed up on him the honorific Title of AGA KHAN as well. Thus he became Aga Khan-1 (Awal) After the death of King Fateh Ali Shah Kachar in 1834 and his grandson Muhammad Shah’s accession to the Throne; Aga Khan-1 was appointed as the Governor of Kerman in 1835. After some time there developed differences and King Muhammad Shah Kachar dismissed Aga Khan from the post of Governorship. After dismissal, Aga Khan-1 raised his Army to the number of 4000 and started rebellion movement against his Father in law’s grandson King Muhammad Shah Kachar. John McNeil, the British Envoy in Persia and Maj Rawalson posted there were secretly negotiating with Aga Khan-1,says the author of book “Sindh Revisited “ .However the forces of King Muhammad Shah Kachar ousted him from Persia and he took refuge in Kandhar,the bordering province of Afghanistan ,in 1841. At that time Anglo –Indian Army was there in quest of dethroning Afghan King Dost Muhammad Shah. It is also known as Anglo- Afghan war. Rawalson was there in Kandahar and Aga Khan-1worked for him @Rs 100/- per day. He used to gather intelligence for Rawalson. In August 1842, Aga Khan came to Sindh and met Charles Napier. The latter was planning to dethrone TALPURS.Charles Napier placed him and his Force at the disposal of James Outram,the British Political Agent. He was sent to Camp at JHERRUK. It was busiest River Port, hub of commercial activities and Head Quarter of famous Indus Flotilla, then. It is 400 ft above Sea Level. There was Garrison of British Army.Aga Khan camped at Jherruk, constructed his house there and named it as MAHALLAT, equating it to the name of the region of Persia(Iran) he belonged to……….
