HISTORY UNFOLDS ------------------------- 1857 War to liberate India... British called it Mutiny...Erupted from with in British Army comprising Muslims and Hindus on a issue ,that Cartridges of new Lee-Enfield Rifle issued to Sepoys were greased with Pig and Beef Fat.Cartridges were made of Gun Powder and balls wrapped in Water Proof paper waxed and greased with the Fat of religiously prohibited animals,which are Taboos.These balls and gun powder had to be filled in the barrel of Rifle by opening the wrapped Cartridge with a bite , which infuriated the the Muslim and Hindu Army Personnel, being Religious Taboos. Sialkot, Ambala, Meeruth,Delhi and other Garrisons revolted and killed their British Commanders.At that time Renowned poet and Mughal King Bahadar Shah Zafar was ruling in only Delhi and around. He was 85.He was ineffective King.Revolting army of Delhi and other Utar Pardesh Garrisons compelled Bahadar Shah Zafar to patronise the Revolt ..British high command acted rapidly.Garrisons at Peshawer, Multan and other places were immediately disarmed. Major Hodson posted at Lahore was ordered to immediately raise an Elite Army .The Elites of Lahore in particular and of whole Punjab in general,offered their services to Maj Hodson.They provided manpower,horses and money to Hodson to curb the mutiny and take over Delhi.Maj Hodson ( in some documents his Rank is written as Captain ) attacked Delhi carried out brutal massacre there and arrested King cum Poet Bahadar Shah Zafar from the Tomb of Humayoon, where he was in hiding.He was imprisoned. His son and grand sons were slaughtered.Their Heads were presented to an aged King cum Poet. British controlled the mutiny. The defying Muslim and Hindu soldiers were executed publicly in different way. Some were hanged in gallows ! Some were tied with the mouth of barrel of Mortar Gun and fire up on ! The King was taken to Rangoon and imprisoned there. He breadth his last there. British rewarded the Feudals of Lahore and who had supported in the wake of Mutiny. All these Feudals opposed partition of India.Jinnah met them and persuaded them by giving his Guarantee that Land Reforms in Pakistan would never dent them ............This is why the land reforms in Pakistan have not succeeded.....
