HIT BY A CAR AND WITH NOBODY TO HELP ME, I LAY BY THE SIDE OF THE ROAD IN AGONY… When you are born a street dog here in Thailand, you have to quickly learn how to take care of yourself. You have no owner to look after you; nowhere but a street corner to call home. Food is what you can find through scavenging or the leftovers that get thrown to you by kind humans. While I was darting around trying to find food one day, it all went horribly wrong. I ran into the road and was hit by a car. Flung to the side of the road, I lay there howling in pain but there was nobody to help me. My name is Yoki. I am only a year old. I don’t know how long I was there when one of the locals who feeds me every day found me. He ran to call Soi Dog and before long, a truck pulled up beside me. I felt a man wrap his arms around me, lift me up and place me in the truck. The man was Khun Thep, an Animal Rescue Officer with Soi Dog. I was sent first to a specialist hospital for an x-ray, which showed that I had fractures in my right back leg. I was in so much pain. I had surgery to insert some special pins into my leg to help the fractures heal and then I was sent to the Soi Dog shelter. I am being so well cared for here. Every day, the vets clean around the pins and replace my bandages. They are so pleased at how well my fractures are healing and now I am walking really well on that leg. It could all have ended so differently… None of this would have been possible without some special Soi Dog supporters. Their regular donations meant I could be picked up that terrible day and get the treatment I needed so urgently. These supporters are called the Emergency Response Team. It is thanks to them that I can tell you my story today. Wouldn’t YOU like to do the same for another suffering animal? There are many other street dogs and cats that need your help. They are sick or injured; they have been abused or abandoned. They have nobody to count on but you. Please don’t let them down. Please join the Emergency Response Team so that they too can be helped. No amount is too small and all you have to do is click on my picture to get started. Thank you.
