HITLERS RISE TO POWER ---- there is much more about hitlers rise to power that is in common with namos effort to do so, but the following two very short write-ups, downloaded from the net, give a chilling idea of the similarity in form and content.... read on --------------------- Adolf Hitler had formed the National Socialist Workers Party (or Nazi Party) in 1920. The focus of the party was to oppose the Jews, the communists and democracy. The Jews were blamed for the ills of society. Germany had lost its pride because of the Jewish invention of conscience. In 1923 the party attempted a Putsch – an attempt to stage a take-over of the government by force. Hitler was arrested and sentenced to five years imprisonment. From 1924 to 1929, under the guidance of Stresemann, the Weimar Republic began a course of economic recovery, the ending of the hyper-inflation crisis and an era of cultural liberalism. But the liberal policies as well as compliance to fulfilling the terms of the Versailles Treaty were a cause for opposition. Following Stresemann’s death in 1929 the far-right once more began its ascendancy. In 1930 the Nazi party won 18% of the vote in a climate of extremism. The Nazis used violence to promote their cause and the next few years were highly unstable. Conservative economic policies created a poor economic environment and support for the Nazis grew. As the depression worsened, support for Hitler grew. The Nazi party received huge support from German industry who associated the Weimar Republic with trade unions, socialism and strikes. In 1933, Hitler was sworn in as chancellor and a series of events let to the rapid demise of democracy in Germany. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1. World War One: Germany lose in World War One left Germany with a monetary burden well beyond their means and international embarrassment with the signing of the Treaty of Versailles. This also led to political chaos and social dysfunction which paved the way for parties with extreme views to take hold in the minds of Germans. 2. Hitler appointed head of DAP, renamed it NSDAP: This gave Hitler contro over what would be the Nazi party. 3. Reichstag Parliamentary Election of 1932: In this election the NSDAP received 32% of the vote. This success led to Hitler being appointed Chancellor of Germany. 4. Reichstag Fire: The Reichstag Fire gave Hitler the chance to enact emergency laws giving him dictatorial like powers. 5. Death of Paul von Hindenburg: Gave Hitler the ability to take the title of President and Chancellor where he renamed himself Fürher. 6. Gleichschaltung: Hitlers process of consolidating power in the Nazi state.
