CC Gokhan MUHTARANLAR Today at 4:40 PM Just to clarify - I have talked at length with Gokhan this afternoon and he will give this matter the highest priority first thing on Monday. He knows we are all relying on him to prevent work commencing and will provide an on site report on Monday in light of the willingness of a number of the team being prepared to fly out at short notice to assist negotiations with the Yard. Additionally he is so convinced the Judge made the wrong decision at law on the provisional injunction point that he will submit the appeal using his own time and money. However legal action in Turkey and/or England is of little value if the vessel does not remain intact. I know this is a blinding glimpse of the obvious but anything that can be done at any level to prevent this over the next 3 to 4 days must if possible be actioned as this asset is all that we have to encourage donations. The sums involved are very manageable and it does seem bizarre that no one at any level in government is prepared to give this project the benefit of doubt. Surely on a balance of probabilities the average person in the street would consider that this project would inure to the benefit of the nation over the next 200 years? At the very least the taxpayer should have a financial return out of sale proceeds! The sort of reaction we are getting from Ministers confirms the reasons for, and the hard facts of, our rapid naval demise over the last 40 years. We need someone to come off the fence over the next 48 hours otherwise all bets could be off.
