HOCKEY: Forward Brandon Nadeau of Kingston made a fine impression on Napanee Raiders fans in his first game with the Empire B Junior C Hockey League club on Tuesday night. Nadeau, a member of the Kingston Voyageurs of the Ontario Junior Hockey League who was sent to the Raiders to get some game action, scored on his very first shift in Napanee, and the goal wound up being the game-winner as the Raiders blanked the Deseronto Storm 4-0. Napanee (13-9-1) took over second place with the win, moving two points ahead of the Campbellford Rebels. The Rebels host the Picton Pirates on Thursday night before the Raiders and Rebels go head to head on Friday night in Campbellford. The 17-year-old Nadeau has dressed for seven Vees games this season, but has spent the bulk of his time as a healthy scratch. Vees coach Colin Birkas said Nadeau will continue to skate with us, but we were not able to get him the minutes he needs to develop. He will likely see game action with the Vees again this season and beyond. Nadeaus goal, 50 seconds into the game, was followed by one from Keenan Murray in the final minute of the period. Mitch Pearce scored in the final minute of the second period and Zach Knapp-Hermer rounded out the scoring 8:04 into the third. Cam Parr gained his second shutout of the season, and sixth win in seven decisions, stopping all 18 shots he faced as the Raiders outshot Deseronto 59-18.
