HOLYOKE – On Oct. 25, at approximately 6 a.m. construction personnel will commence the paving associated with the grade crossing at North Canal Street in Holyoke. At this time the crossing will be closed to vehicular traffic through Oct. 26 at approximately noon. Local police details will be in place to mitigate any traffic issues. Access to local area residents and businesses will be maintained throughout construction by detour. The grade crossing will be closed throughout this two day period as construction crews place permanent pavement at this location, and upgrade signal systems and utilities as needed. Variable message boards have been on site to alert motorists and neighbors of these closures. Any questions or inquiries can be directed to the project hotline at 617-721-7506.
