HOMELESSNESS, MENTAL HEALTH & INCARCERATION Community Medic members were privileged to take part in a forum on Wednesday in Parramatta on Homelessness, Mental Health and Incarceration. This forum had talks from people such as Professor Eileen Baldry PHD, Professor of Criminology, School of Social Sciences Deputy Dean, Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, University of NSW. Lou Schetzer Senior Policy Officer Homeless Persons’ Legal Service Public Interest Advocacy Centre and Dr Joe Garside Senior Career Medical Officer,Western Sydney LHD; Psychiatry Sydney Medical School and others. It was a brilliant day of networking and listening to other professionals in this space. A lot of the knowledge reaffirmed what we see on the streets everyday with our homeless clients and Community Medic was able to provide insight through a working group on supported accommodation. This event was hosted by the Parramatta Region Homelessness Interagency and it was a great opportunity to establish expanded networks amoung peers. We are thankful for being offered a place in this forum.
