Cathay Pacific blamed bad weather in Zhuhai for the 16hr grounding of a Hongkong bound flight in the GUANDONG CITY..Cathay also said the carrier emmeditely called up a standby crew in HONGKONG to replace the flights original crew and fly the plane back to the SAR..Flight CX831coming in from NEW YORK with 256passenger on bord was forced to divert to Zhuhai airport on SUNDAY night as HONGKONG hoisted black rainstorm warning and landed there at about 9pm..It was mt until 1pm on MONDAY that it was able to take off arriving in HONGKON an hour later.Due to bad weather conditions in ZHUHAI the flight the flight could not take off immediately after landing at ZHUHAI airport a spokewoman of CATHAY said yesterday .It also took time for the flight to leave ZHUHAI since ther were already a lot of flights scheduled to take off.Former CATHAY PACIFI Flight Attendants Union charwoman BECKY KWAN SIU-WA said about 6percent of flight crew are on standby everyday to responds the emergency situation like that on SUNDAY..Kwan said the crew are ready to react swiftly to emercy call-ups at all hour.She added that it is up to local immigration authorities to decide whether to allow to disembark or not ..Passengers on the CATHAY0 flight to ZHUHAI were not able to leave the plane..But about 250 on board Dragonairs flight KA875diverted to SHENZHEN to do so.. That flight bound for HONGKONG from SHANGHAI landed at about 11pm SUNDAY and passengers were able to leave the plane at about 5am ~~~~PICCACHU~~~
