HOMILY: Choose to live by Christ’s way of love & mercy. We ought to respond to the invitation of John the Baptist: Prepare the way; make straight his paths. How? Fr. Mar shared a true story of a woman’s tremendous show of understanding, mercy & love towards a philandering husband. She together with two daughters lived separately from her husband for 29 years until he got sick & died. Despite her husband’s infidelity until the end-living in with 3 other wives – the woman spent 1.5M for hospital bills plus funeral expenses & even provided shelter to the ‘other wives’ family members during the wake. She decided to oppose the values of the world – that of vengeances & anger – live Jesus’ path of love & kindness. As what CBCP Pres. H.E. Soc Villegas said of the forthcoming visit of Pope Francis: the values of mercy & compassion that Pope Francis: the value of mercy & compassion that Pope Francis preaches are the values which we ought to live; these are the principles by w/c Christ has lived.
