HON. RAILA AMOLLO ONDINGA Let me tell you the truth that none have ever told you. Sir, you have struggled too much to capture the highest office in the land but in futility. This not because you cannot lead – me I know you can. And this does not necessarily mean you are the only person who can lead. This is where your problem lies and it is basically the root to your predicaments. Sir, you started your struggle on the wrong foot by organising a military coup. May be it’s because you wanted to “liberate” your fellow countrymen from authoritative rule of the government of that day. Though it failed (God knows why), your fellow countrymen gave you something we call the” benefit of the doubt” and continued to adore and allowed you to continue holding the liberator crown. And you continued to struggle by organising demos, criticising any government and leading all sorts of anti-government crusades still in the name of liberator. People started getting used to this and thanks God this gave them an opportunity re-examine the “benefit of the doubt” they had given you. All this while, you were so drunk with rebellion that you failed to notice that the same people had started reading mischief in your struggles. They doubted whether you wanted to liberate them or you were just driven by your selfish thirst for power. And they communicated this to you the first time your name appeared legally on the ballot papers. Still you didn’t learn any lesson from that. What you increased was the rebellion and suffered a condition known as “paranoia” which made you think that winning is losing. This paranoid thing is growing strong in you that it cannot be controlled. Sir, “over ambitiousness” is the mother of all failures. Ask Shakespeare and he will tell you it led to the assassination of Julius Caesar. That is exactly what you are! It robs ones vision of reality! And it is evident even now that you cannot see your “London is burning”. The paranoia in you blinds you in to not seeing that we cannot spend all our time in electioneering mode. You cannot realise that liberation is not a fully time affair. You cannot realise that a coup is not as simple as “smoking out bees for you to harvest honey”. This is why you are composing songs with no themes. You developed a phobia for fearing reality and you want everybody to be infected to keep you company as you go towards the last phase of life. My advice to you, do the appropriate, swallow your pride, realise that you have exhausted all the bullets you had and what now remains is an unloaded gun and your enemy noticed when you fired the last shot (your enemy is now free to attack you with any crude weapon available without fear). Your foot soldiers have panicked and now rebel against you to leave the front line for them to employ their tactics (which you never bothered to borrow) and see whether they can salvage anything. You won’t quit empty handed – at least you have some marks in the sands of time.
