HONORING BRIAN McANDREWS - TAI SHANS BELOVED KEEPER It is with very heavy hearts that we, at Pandas Unlimited, have learnt of the tragic death of Tai Shans beloved former Keeper Brian McAndrews. Brian was incredibly gentle with Tai as a little cub. Hed sit back on his knees on the grass in the panda yard and let Tai come to him when he was ready. And he did. Ready to be enfolded in Brians arms. Ready to nuzzle into the warmth and protection of Brians chest. It was magical to see Tais trust and Brians respect and understanding for Tai. It was like watching a loving father with his baby son. And when Tai was stung by that nasty bee and was left reeling and wondering what had happened, it was Brian who tenderly carried him inside so that the Keepers could care for him. If Brian seemingly crossed the divide between man and animal it is because there is no divide when your spirits connect, as theirs did. Seeing them together was seeing them as One. The fact that one wore a baseball cap, a t-shirt and had a beard whilst the other had black ears, a black vest and black socks was irrelevant. The spirit of Brians love and care for Tai went beyond that and connected with the sixth sense that animals such as Tai have. They know when they can trust a human. And when we observed them together, we knew. We just knew they had a very special relationship. We are thankful to have witnessed it for it was beautiful to see. God bless you Brian.
