HONORING TODAY: ROGER LEROY MCCLURG. AIC US AIR FORCE. 13 MARCH 1939 - 2 NOVEMBER 2009. Roger is the son of Dillard McClurg: 1899-1967, and Nancy Edith Meadows: 1905-1981. Roger, Dillard and Nancy McClurg are buried in Idlewild Cemetery. Roger had sisters: (1.) Beatrice: 1923-2014. Beatrice was married to Robert E. Millard: 1914-1968. (2.) Deloris: born in 1927. Deloris is married to Kenneth Erbes and lives in Moab, Utah. (3.) Betty: born in 1930. Betty was married to Arden Hawkins: 1926-2012. Betty lives in Hudsonville. (4.) Shirley: 1933-2002. Shirley was married to Oscar Anderson of Sparta. Roger had one brother who was also a Veteran and is also buried in Idlewild Cemetery. The brother’s name is Charles Glen “Mac” McClurg: 1924-1967. OBITUARY: Passed away on Friday, November 3, 2007 at Bronson Medical Center. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marge; son, Craig; parents, Dillard and Nancy; brother, Mac; sister, Shirley Anderson. He is survived by his sons, Dennis and Naomi McClurg, Jim and Barb McClurg; step- children, Jim, Rick, Norman, and Michelle; three grandchildren; numerous step- grandchildren; sisters, Bea Millard, Delores and Kenneth Erbes, Betty and Arden Hawkins; brother-in-law, Oscar Anderson; sister-in-law, Angie McClurg; several cousins, nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 7, 11:00 AM at the Calvary Baptist Church, 1200 28th Street S.E., Grand Rapids. Friends may meet the family at the Hessel-Cheslek Funeral Home, 88 E. Division St., Sparta, MI on Tuesday, 6 to 9 PM and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday morning. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to The V.F.W. National Home for Children or Grand Rapids Christian Schools. Hessel-Cheslek Funeral Home, Sparta.
