HOPE IS PRECIOUS! “Return to the stronghold, O prisoners who have the HOPE, this very day even now I announce to you that I will restore twice as much to you,” (Zechariah 9:12) In this verse, we are instructed to come back to our place of security to the God who is our hope of safely, deliverance, healing and peace. Hope therefore is certain. With this view, when we speak hope in God, we rise above our doubts and questions to declaring our absolute understanding that He will do what He promises. What God promises, He has already done. As Jesus said on the cross, “It is finished” (John 19:20). To hope in Him, shows that we accept and receive what He has already accomplished. Reliance on our fellowmen most of the time left us disappointed, but hope in God as an absolute confidence. The LORD wants us to know that hope is power when it is in Him. While we can not deliver ourselves, we hope in our Almighty God who can. Hope is precious because it grows in adversity. The apostle Paul said this: “We rejoice in the hope of the glory of God and in our sufferings, because we know it produces perseverance; and perseverance produces character; and character, hope. And hope does not disappoint us because God has poured out His love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom He has given us.” (Romans 5:3-4)
