HOSEA 14 The book of Hosea ends beautifully with this chapter. We noted yesterday that the theme in Hosea is return. God is watching and waiting for His lost child to return back to Him; just like the prodigal sons father who was ever watching and waiting. This chapter seals the theme, filled with many promises that make the road back home clear and inviting. O Israel, return to the LORD your God, For you have stumbled because of your iniquity; Take words with you, And return to the LORD. Say to Him, Take away all iniquity; Receive us graciously, For we will offer the sacrifices of our lips. (Hosea 14:1-2 NKJV) The sacrifices of our lips refers to confession. On the road back home, we need to confess our iniquity to God. It is in confession that God promises forgiveness (see 1 John 1:9). God will take away our in iniquity. In Him, we will find mercy. Then there are more promises of restoration and revival as we return home. I will heal their backsliding, I will love them freely, For My anger has turned away from him. I will be like the dew to Israel; He shall grow like the lily, And lengthen his roots like Lebanon. Those who dwell under his shadow shall return; They shall be revived like grain, And grow like a vine. Their scent shall be like the wine of Lebanon. (Hosea 14:4-5, 7 NKJV) Then Hosea looks to close the book. He want to leave something succinct and profound that even if you forget everything else, that one thing you will not forget; Who is wise? Let him understand these things. Who is prudent? Let him know them. For the ways of the LORD are right; The righteous walk in them, But transgressors stumble in them. (Hosea 14:9 NKJV) My friend, the road back to God is paved and illuminated. It has been cleared for us. There are many promises to hold on to along the way. Let us return to The Lord my friends. Let us renew our relationship with God. Let us refresh the relationship. Let us be restored and rekindled. Let us be re-directed; let us return and be revived. Were reading Hosea 14 today.
