HOST A FOREIGN EXCHANGE STUDENT, GAIN A GLOBAL - TopicsExpress

HOST A FOREIGN EXCHANGE STUDENT, GAIN A GLOBAL PERSPECTIVE World Heritage Student Exchange Programs is now looking for American families to host high school students from Asia. These personable and academically select exchange students speak English, are bright, curious, and eager to learn about this country through living as part of a family for an academic year and attending high school. Your support of these students reinforces the United States’ commitment to education and opportunity throughout the world. By living with local host families and attending local high schools, the students acquire an understanding of American values and build on leadership skills. World Heritage is currently seeking host families for these well-qualified, bright, motivated and well-screened students coming from Japan, China, Thailand, Taiwan and South Korea. Chareef is a special scholarship student from Thailand. Ever since learning about the exchange program, he has dedicated much of time learning and improving his English. Just like Tom Yum Kung, Chareef’s personality is sweet and spicy. His family lives in a village between a rice paddy and a rubber plantation in Thailand. It is a beautiful place, and he often takes bike rides with his family. He lives with his parents, brother and young sister. He says that one of his main duties is to keep his baby sister from putting things in her mouth! He is used to cooking, cleaning and helping out with all the household duties. Chareef’s heart burns with intensity with learning as much English as possible. In fact, his main hobbies center around words. He listens to American music (especially Bruno Mars), reads constantly, and does crossword puzzles in his spare time. He also plays soccer to keep active with his teammates and friends. Chareef is thrilled to be given this opportunity for a scholarship. He will devote his flame of knowledge and experience to truly appreciate all an American family can offer. The exchange students arrive from their home country shortly before school begins and return at the end of the school year. Each World Heritage student is fully insured, brings his or her own personal spending money and expects to bear his or her share of household responsibilities, as well as being included in normal family activities and lifestyles. At the same time the student will be teaching their newly adopted host family about their own culture and language. To become a host family for Chareef, any of our other students, or find out more about World Heritage, please contact Carol Berger, at 209-863-2194 , via email at [email protected] or visit whhosts. World Heritage looks forward to welcoming you to the ranks of host families nationwide contributing to world peace and understanding through student exchange programs.
