HOT TOPIC: A moms smartphone app startup raises nearly $6 million from investors to help fight childhood obesity. The mom created Kurbo, the first mobile weight loss app for kids, after trying to find her son a weight loss program that worked for him. #9HotTopics Kurbo lets users track their diets through food diaries and offers live coaching through a subscription service. Early tests showed the app had 85 percent success in reducing BMI in children ages 8 to18 in just 10 weeks.
