Stephen Parr QUOTE: HOUSTON – A police officer is in the hospital with broken bones after a violent run-in with a suspected car burglar overnight in southeast Houston. According to the Houston Police Department, it happened sometime around 3 a.m. Wednesday on Navigation and 77th Street. Investigators said an officers caught the suspect breaking into a car about two miles from the scene, but he managed to interrupt him in the act. The officer then found himself in a fight with the suspect. The suspect eventually was able to get behind the wheel of his car. Police said the suspect dragged the officer, who was able to radio for help. Backup came quickly and they chased the suspect until he crashed at 77th and Navigation. The officer is hurting, but will survive. Police said hes being treated at Memorial Hermann Hospital. As for the suspect, he hid from police for about 45 minutes, but a K-9 unit found him in someones yard under a storage unit. Hell face a number of charges.
