HOW ACCESS RUINS CHRISTMAS FOR YOUR KID Another aspect to the SRI program that has not been widely talked about is the way some volunteers deliberately or accidentally tell children that there is no Santa Clause. Another case was reported to us just this morning. It also happened to the principal at Lara Woods school, and he had several angry parents knocking on his door the next day. We know that most volunteers are respectful of parents wishes to have their child enjoy the notion of Santa while they are young. It is considered a right of passage of childhood, just like the tooth fairy, and the Easter Bunny. But it is not the right of any person, other than the parents, to take that away from their children. Just like it would not be appropriate for Atheists to go into schools and tell children of faith that there is no God. But this keeps happening year after year, and as you can understand, parents get pretty emotional about it. A lot of SRI volunteers believe that Santa takes away from the glory of God and Jesus at Christmas time, and that it is their job to make sure that other peoples kids understand their idea of the true meaning of Christmas. Another thing which is taught to kids in SRI at Christmas time is The Story of the Candy Cane. This is one of the songs on the official ACCESS Ministries CD, used in SRI classes. These are all songs written for “child evangelism” to communicate the ideas that fundamentalists believe, and some of the songs are just loony. The volunteers want to change the way other peoples children view Candy Canes forever - not as a yummy treat, but as a symbol of the blood he shed, to wash away our sin. We would attach a link for you to listen to these songs, but our website has been recently hacked. But here are the words (sang to the tune of Jingle Bells): The Story Of The Candy Cane Christmas time is here, you can see it all around Buy a candy cane, and turn it up side down Can you see the J, it stands for Jesus Christ And the night that he was born, an Israelite Oh Candy canes, Jesus reigns, do you know the King The red stands for the blood he shed, to wash away our sin – hey Candy canes, Jesus reigns, do you know the King The white stands for the day he rose, so we could be with him Look the other way, can you see a shepherd’s staff For they were the first, to see the King that night Can you see the J, it stands for Jesus Christ And the night that he was born an Israelite Now you know the tale, of the candy cane is real Jesus is the King, the Lord of everything So sweet as candy be, it reminds us all that Jesus Loved us all so very much he died to set us free Some of these songs are just outright crazy, and all the songs reflect a view that children should look at “God” as a personal friend (There is nothing my God can not do … for you). This is “fundamentalism” in song, for kids … allowed into our schools by the Minister for Education, paid for by you, and distributed by ACCESS Ministries … who swear on a stack of bibles that they “don’t proselytise” … these songs are evidence that they are lying about what they do in SRI.
