HOW CAN WE PRODUCE PLAYERS LIKE MESSI, RONALDO, INIESTA OR EVEN BETTER? - This question that is raised more and more by SA youth coaches is very encouraging but extremely challenging. The good news is that there are no secrets anymore on how to take exceptional young talent to the top of performance in football. The biggest challenge though is to IMPLEMENT the process of maximizing talent. The key pre-conditions are (1) to match SA childrens football nature with the criteria of talent discovery; (2) ensure that learning of basic skills starts very early (age 4-5); (3) the development and improvement of all aspects of individuality comes before collective or competitive tasks; (4) training must reflect the most advanced concepts (brain + multi-factor complex methods); (5) progressively challenging, diverse and continuous competitions from the age of 11-12. It is essential that the different characteristics of SA children - rate of mental & physical maturation, ball skill attributes, aspects such as physical abilities and limitations and game playing mentality ARE ACKNOWLEDGED AND STRICTLY RESPECTED.
