HOW CAN YOU HELP? WE NEED YOU TO BECOME AN OVERNIGHT SHELTER VOLUNTEER! PLEASE CONTACT US IMMEDIATELY IF YOU CAN SPARE A FEW NIGHTS THIS WINTER... Inn From The Cold operates with seven local churches who serve as host locations (each church takes on one night each week) from November 1st to April 30th. Our emergency shelter program serves the Annapolis Valley and regularly receives male and female guests of all ages. We have averaged approximately 2 individuals on the 80% of the time the shelter is required. Over the past ten years, Open Arms / Inn From The Cold has provided shelter for nearly 600 individuals and assisted countless others with housing, food, clothing and more. More than 150 volunteers are required to make the Winter shelter program possible. Two volunteers (at least one male) are on duty each night from 10:00pm - 7:30am and it is required that one volunteer stay awake. Every guest is delivered by police and if no one needs shelter by 11:30pm (or police inform a guest will be delivered), volunteers go home.
