HOW EFFECTIVE IS ASKING OTHERS TO PRAY FOR YOU? by Deirdre April 27, 2014 Sometimes we pray and dont get what we ask for. The Lord says this happens because we ask wrongly. When you ask, you do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, that you may spend what you get on your pleasures. - James 4:3 But instead of asking rightly we go to someone else and ask them to pray for us -- that same wrong prayer that we asked for ourselves. But understand this, if God has denied your prayer because you have asked wrongly, He is not going to answer your wrong prayer, just because you have asked somebody else to utter it from their lips. If your prayer is still wrong, then asking someone else to pray for you is not going to be effective. This is because the Lord says that you must abide in Him if you want what you ask to be done. If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. - John 15:7 If what you ask is NOT being done for you then instead of going to someone else and asking them to ask the wrong prayer on your behalf -- your first course of action should be to correct your relationship with the Lord. You can accomplish this by confessing your sins to a righteous person and then the two of you praying that you be healed. Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective. - James 5:16 Once you are healed and have restored your relationship with the Lord, then you are in a position to pray for yourself. When you live a righteous life, your prayer becomes powerful and effective. So, you must do two things to have God answer your prayer: 1) You must be His worshiper and 2) You must do His will. We know that God does not listen to sinners, but if anyone is a worshiper of God and does his will, God listens to him. - John 9:31
