HOW POWERFUL WOULD IT BE if on MLK Day Pat McPherson made an announcement similar to this: There has been a lot of attention placed on those inadvertent comments on my blog. I have repudiated those comments, and I further apologize to anyone who may have been offended by those comments, which were made without my knowledge. I have a long record of public service, and I dont want to be remembered for these unfounded accusations. When the Governor and fellow BOE Board members chose to publicly demand my resignation I resisted it since I felt I didnt do anything wrong. I reiterate that same position today. Since those announcements I realize something critically important. Whether I prove to anyone I was right or wrong, since these people have expressed public opposition to me, unfortunately its unlikely that will change. I stated that I looked forward to working with them, its sad they are choosing to not work with me. As such It has since dawned on me that its likely my voice and involvement on this Board may be forever impacted and stifled. Our kids need a voice of conservative family values to represent their interests in the Board of Education. That was why I was elected. And that is why I must make the painful step of resigning my seat, effectively immediately, so that a conservative voice of family values can be appointed to replace me. This issue isnt about racism, or even politics, its about whats right for our kids. Im willing to sacrifice my seat to prove I put the worth and future of our kids above public opinion and my own political office. I only hope you remember me for that as I venture forth from the BOE.
