HOW PRIDE ROBBED HIM OF THE BLESSING Prepared by Pastor Charles Chanda; Pretoria, South Africa Two people living next to each got visited on a particular day by a stranger. One did not have furniture in his house and decided not to allow the stranger in his house for fear of embarrassment. He stood on the door and attended to him. The visited told the man that he just came to check on him and left. He went to the next door neighbour and knocked. Apparently this one had sofas that were resting on bricks and the springs could be seen out. He was not ashamed to bring people inside as he had accepted the fact that this was his current condition. The stranger was allowed inside the house and sat on one of the sofas. He asked the man how long he had those chairs and the man said this was the the fifteenth year. The stranger asked him how much he bought those sofa and the man not suspecting anything said he had spent an equivalent of eight hundred dollars. The stranger then asked the old man if he knew how much eight hundred multiplied by fifteen would be and the man was so quick as he used to be a maths teacher and he said twelve thousand dollars. The visitor was so impressed and asked the old man what work he was doing and for how long. He said that he was a teacher for twenty years and had retired. The stranger asked the old man another question. How long have you been on retirement? The old man said five years. He asked him another question that was rather difficult. How much where you earning per year and how much would that be in five years? The old man replied I was earning twelve thousand per year which amounts to sixty thousand dollars. The stranger took out a cheque and wrote one in the amount of seventy two thousand dollars. The old man asked what the money was for and why he was being given? The stranger said that he was sent to bless anyone who would receive him in his house and you have done exactly that. The stranger further said I first went to your neighbour as he was one of those chosen to receive this reward as we heard of his condition but unfortunately he is proud for nothing. He did not want me to enter as he was ashamed of his condition. LESSON Those who keep Christ outside even when they know that they are deep in sin end up losing all the blessings that Christ has purchased for them. Allow him into your heart today and he will change your life. Do not be ashamed of who you are before God. Confess your sins today and you will receive pardon.
