HOW TINUBU, IBORI, IGBINEDION, ATTAH SYPHONED RESOURCES TO FUND OANDO Despite repeated denials by former Lagos State Governor, Mr. Ahmed Bola Tinubu that he was not involved in any corrupt enrichment while in office, there are new allegations that he connived with fellow discredited ex-Governors James Ibori, Lucky Igbinedion and Victor Attah to move offshore funds for the recapitalization of a once inconsequential oil prospecting company in British Virgin Island. Mr. Tinubu who once enjoyed a profile of a great performer in Lagos State was said to have teamed up with the three other contemporaries who were Governors of Delta, Edo and Akwa- Ibom States to move money without authorization from there various state coffers for personal investment in Ocean and Oil, British Virgin Island. Whistleblowers told pointblanknews that Ocean and Oil Company enjoyed several financial patronages from Tinubu and co so much so that the company that was once inconsequential and very low in profile suddenly kicked to life and began to express interest in juicy oil prospecting blocs in Nigeria. According to the usually impeccable source the Governors appointed relatives and friends as proxies: Jibril Tinubu, Bola Tinubu who was said to have contributed the lion share, Henry Imasekha represented James Ibori while Attah and Igbinedion also appointed representatives to take care of their investments. Jibril Tinubu is younger of Bola Tinubu, while Henry Imasekha is a classmate of James Ibori while at the University of Benin, Edo State. The impeccable sources said that the four conniving former state chief executives had a simple agenda viz investing in the British Virgin Island company then pretending to have a branch office in Nigeria where they were always guaranteed oil prospecting license and lucrative trading deals. It was a matter of “stealing from Nigeria and turning around to play the card of foreign investors.” The Nigerian branch was named OANDO and it quickly grew in clientele and profit. It did so well that it could even make available a jet in its fleet for the electoral campaigns of President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua. Our sources explained Nigerians cannot expect much from Yar’Adua’s government when it comes to investigating and prosecuting Tinubu, Ibori, Igbinedion, Attah and others who have been indicted in connection with other serious financial crimes. It was said that Tinubu and Ibori gave unqualified support to Yar’Adua for government continued patronage of OANDO and over look the records of the company. It would be recalled that the same quartet had been named in the scandal involving using resources from the treasuries of the various states where they were Governor to acquire stakes in V-Mobile (formerly Econet) now known as Celtel.
