HOW TO AVOID SHIPWRECK! PSALM 73:24 KJV Thou shalt guide me with thy counsel, and afterward receive me to glory. Your life is like a voyage. If you want to avoid shipwreck read (ACTS 27:12 NIV), Since the harbor was unsuitable to winter in, the majority decided that we should sail on, hoping to reach Phoenix and winter there. This was a harbor in Crete, facing both southwest and northwest and notice the following things: (1) They were dissatisfied with where they were. Since the harbor was unsuitable . . . the majority decided that we should sail on. GOD doesnt guide us by dissatisfaction or by opinion polls, HE guides us by HIS SPIRIT. When things get difficult were called to overcome them, not try to escape them. (2) They were impatient to get to where they were going. Theres not a single verse in the BIBLE that tells us to hurry up or well miss GOD! In the wilderness Israel learned that when the cloud moves, you move; when the cloud stops, stay where you are and wait on GOD. (3) They failed to heed GODS WORD. But the centurion, instead of listening to what Paul said, followed the advice of the pilot. (ACTS 27:11 NIV). Be careful, if you look hard enough youll find someone whose opinion confirms what you want to do. And that will get you into trouble. (4) They looked to the circumstances instead of GOD to guide them. When a gentle south wind began to blow, they thought they had obtained what they wanted; so they weighed anchor and sailed along the shore of Crete. Before very long, a wind of hurricane force, called the northeaster, swept down from the island. The ship was caught by the storm and could not head into the wind; so we gave way to it and were driven along (ACTS 27:13-15 NIV). The idea that circumstances will always line up favorably with GODS guidance is not scriptural. Sometimes GOD leads you through the wilderness. And HELL never lead you anywhere that doesnt require HIS provision and protection. If you can get there without GOD ~~ HE didnt send you. So if you want to avoid shipwreck ask GOD to show you the right way ~~ which is HIS way!! DEAR LORD: Help me to surrender my will to you, and help me to stay in touch with you.. LORD, I pray You help me to come to the end of my self-sufficiency! Help me to build on you and not other people, to yield to you entirely. Teach me, O LORD, to stand and endure in the midst of trouble and pain, to be still and listen to you. AMEN
