HOW TO BAPTIZE! Matthew 28:19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: MATTHEW 28:19 In the same way that this commission is to every Born Again believer (Jn. 3:3-7; & Rom. 10:9-10), not just to ministers, the command to baptize is also for every Born Again believer (Jn. 3:3-7; & Rom. 10:9-10). It is proper for any Born Again believer (Jn. 3:3-7; & Rom. 10:9-10) to administer the ordinance of water baptism [sprinkled on the head with water according to the Bible is not water baptism]. The word baptize or baptism is translated in the Greek baptizo, meaning submerge; to immerse; literally - dip under (Strongs Concordance). Jesus commands us Born Again Christians (Jn. 3:3-7; & Rom. 10:9-10) to baptize in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost, yet there is no recorded instance where the Born Again believers (Jn. 3:3-7; & Rom. 10:9-10) did so. Instead, the instances of baptism that are recorded in the book of Acts, show people being baptized in the name of Jesus only. Because of this noticeable difference, doctrines have arisen that teach there is no Trinity, and that unless water baptism is administered in the name of Jesus [only], with faith in the water baptism, a person cannot be saved (Jn. 3:3-7; & Rom. 10:9-10). This is a false teaching that has led many people astray. Water baptism is an outward witness of the inner change that has already taken place [i.e. Born Again, saved - Jn. 3:3-7; & Rom. 10:9-10]. Water baptism is a confirmation of the love that a person has for God through Jesus [after] the person is Born Again, saved (Jn. 3:3-7; & Rom. 10:9-10), but water baptism is [not] salvation (Jn. 3:3-7; & Rom. 10:9-10), confessing out of the mouth the Lord Jesus is recognizing that Jesus is the Savior and God of a persons life, because Jesus was God manifest in the flesh (1 Tim. 3:16). There are many instances in the Bible where people were Born Again (Jn. 3:3-7; & Rom. 10:9-10) [before] the people were water baptized. It says in (Acts 10:44-48), Cornelius and his friends were filled with the Holy Ghost and spoke in tongues, proving that they were already Born Again (Jn. 3:3-7; & Rom. 10:9-10) before they were baptized in water. Also, in (Lk. 23:42-43), the thief on the cross could not come down from the cross to be water baptized. These are only just two instances, but there are many. The harmony between the commission of Jesus and the practice of the early church is simple. When we Born Again Christians (Jn. 3:3-7; & Rom. 10:9-10) baptize people in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost, we Born Again Christians (Jn. 3:3-7; & Rom. 10:9-10) are baptizing them in the name of Jesus because in him [Jesus] dwelleth all the fullness of the Godhead bodily (Col. 2:9). People should be water baptized [after] they are Born Again, saved (Jn. 3:3-7; & Rom. 10:9-10) or they become suspect of being Born Again, saved (Jn. 3:3-7; & Rom. 10:9-10). Therefore, baptizing in the name of either, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost, or in the name of Jesus, is correct, as long as (Col. 2:9) is understood. In the name of the Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ! Amen!
