HOW TO GET WHAT YOU WANT IN WLB Or why, on this Thanksgiving, we are thankful for the Tuccites. When I covered WLB for the Link News, I had the pleasure of writing about Steve Cioffis friend. who is ripping us off to the tune of 3k a month to putatively chase geese from Franklin Lake with his dog and toy boat (no kidding). Well, knowing hes on thin ice if people realize hes got a joke job, the Geese Patrol guy is a tad bit sensitive. How sensitive? Read on. Well, he took offense to some comments then Rep. councilman Tom DeBruin- the only one with the guts to speak out against this outrage- made to me in an interview published in the Link. Interesting, because during our phone interview , HE SAID DeBruin was a pain in the ass. He then called to beg me not to print that. Well, I had every right to print it, and should have, but I did a favor and left the comment out. I never thought it would live to haunt me. At the next council meeting, the Geese Guy COMPLETELY LOST IT AND CHARGED THE DAIS, TELLING DEBRUIN, FACE TO FACE, HE WAS A PAIN IN THE ASS. No paraphrase- thats what he said. In any other town- no matter how corrupt- this lummox would have been fired on the spot and likely arrested (secret- those who run council meetings have panic buttons they can push should police be needed) Ive heard of people being arrested for approaching the dais in a menacing fashion.... usually bs, but accurate, in this case. They should have thrown his ass in jail. They should have fired him. They should have at least censured him and demanded a public apology. But what did the Tuccites do? They APOLOGIZED TO HIM AFTER THE MEETING, DOING ALL THEY COULD TO APPEASE HIM. TODAY, HE CONTINUES TO HOLD THE CONTRACT. He is, after all, a friend of Steve Cioffi. Therefore, I am demanding that Cioffi, a former cop, explain why this man was not arrested and still has a job in WLB, despite his actions. Oh, I almost forgot- he also sent a friend to harass and intimidate another critic- an action former police chief Cosentino called crazy, and offered to take care of. I am also calling on Cioffi to justify paying the Geese Patrol guy (when I spoke to him one night he was wearing a shirt which advertised his business- or someones business. Im not sure, considering it was spelled Geese Partol!) Id also like for Shore Regional to justify paying the guy (for the record, at the time of my interview, he got a bit less than 1.5K per month from the town, and about the same from the district. He chastised me for writing he was paid 1.5K per month! I should have figured it would have to be a bit less) Where is Mon U in all this, you ask? Simple- they use a light to chase geese away. It works great, and costs next to nothing. Thats the difference between those concerned with a budget and the Tuccites....
