HOW TO HAVE OR RECEIVE THE SPIRIT OF TRUTH Act 2:38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. Act 2:39 For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call. REQUIREMENTS 1. Repent and be baptized in the Name of YaHshua (Yeshua) Mashiyach (or YaHshua MessiYaH). It has to be in the Name and not titles. Father and Son are titles. A Father should have a name just like the Son should have a Name. Just mentioning titles without mentioning the Name is not the right way. A title is like a formular while a name the particular answer. 2. Obeying God’s Commandments including the Ten Commandments Act 5:32 And we are his witnesses of these things; and so is also the Holy Ghost, whom God hath given to them that obey him. ONLY THOSE THAT OBEY GOD’S COMMANDMENTS RECEIVE THE TRUE HOLY GHOST Deu_4:2 Ye shall not add unto the word which I command you, neither shall ye diminish ought from it, that ye may keep the commandments of the LORD your God which I command you. Deu_6:17 Ye shall diligently keep the commandments of the LORD your God, and his testimonies, and his statutes, which he hath commanded thee. Deu_7:11 Thou shalt therefore keep the commandments, and the statutes, and the judgments, which I command thee this day, to do them. Deu_8:6 Therefore thou shalt keep the commandments of the LORD thy God, to walk in his ways, and to fear him. Deu_10:13 To keep the commandments of the LORD, and his statutes, which I command thee this day for thy good? Deu_28:9 The LORD shall establish thee an holy people unto himself, as he hath sworn unto thee, if thou shalt keep the commandments of the LORD thy God, and walk in his ways. Psa_119:115 Depart from me, ye evildoers: for I will keep the commandments of my God. Mat_19:17 And he said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments. Rev_12:17 And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ. Rev_14:12 Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus. HOW THE EARLY BELIEVERS RECEIVED THE HOLY GHOST, THE SPIRIT OF TRUTH 1. LAYING ON OF HANDS Act 19:2 He said unto them, Have ye received the Holy Ghost since ye believed? And they said unto him, We have not so much as heard whether there be any Holy Ghost. Act 19:3 And he said unto them, Unto what then were ye baptized? And they said, Unto Johns baptism. Act 19:4 Then said Paul, John verily baptized with the baptism of repentance, saying unto the people, that they should believe on him which should come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus. Act 19:5 When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. Act 19:6 And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Ghost came on them; and they spake with tongues, and prophesied. 2Ti_1:14 That good thing which was committed unto thee keep by the Holy Ghost which dwelleth in us. Act_8:17 Then laid they their hands on them, and they received the Holy Ghost. Act_8:18 And when Simon saw that through laying on of the apostles hands the Holy Ghost was given, he offered them money, ANANIAS LAID HANDS ON PAUL TO RECEIVE THE HOLY GHOST Act 9:15 But the Lord said unto him, Go thy way: for he is a chosen vessel unto me, to bear my name before the Gentiles, and kings, and the children of Israel: Act 9:16 For I will shew him how great things he must suffer for my names sake. Act 9:17 And Ananias went his way, and entered into the house; and putting his hands on him said, Brother Saul, the Lord, even Jesus, that appeared unto thee in the way as thou camest, hath sent me, that thou mightest receive thy sight, and be filled with the Holy Ghost. Act 9:18 And immediately there fell from his eyes as it had been scales: and he received sight forthwith, and arose, and was baptized. Act 9:19 And when he had received meat, he was strengthened. Then was Saul certain days with the disciples which were at Damascus. Act 9:20 And straightway he preached Christ in the synagogues, that he is the Son of God. 2. WHILE PREACHING OR WHEN THE GENTILES BELIEVED WITHOUT LAYING ON OF HANDS Act_10:44 While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word. Act_10:45 And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost. Act_10:47 Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we? Act_11:15 And as I began to speak, the Holy Ghost fell on them, as on us at the beginning. 3. THROUGH PRAYER Act_4:31 And when they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled together; and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and they spake the word of God with boldness. Act 2:1 And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. Act 2:2 And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. Act 2:3 And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. Act 2:4 And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance. THE LORD WAS ANOINTED WITH THE HOLY GHOST AND POWER Act_10:38 How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him. WE NEED THE HAND OF THE LORD TO BE WITH US Act 11:21 And the hand of the Lord was with them: and a great number believed, and turned unto the Lord. THOSE THAT CANNOT RECEIVE THE SPIRIT OF TRUTH 1. The World Joh_14:17 Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you. 2. Those that reject the Commandments and Law of God Act 5:32 And we are his witnesses of these things; and so is also the Holy Ghost, whom God hath given to them that obey him. HOW THE SPIRIT OF GOD COMES 1. Received in the Name of the Lord 2. Comes Upon or descends upon you Joh_15:26 But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me: Num_11:25 And the LORD came down in a cloud, and spake unto him, and took of the spirit that was upon him, and gave it unto the seventy elders: and it came to pass, that, when the spirit rested upon them, they prophesied, and did not cease. Num_11:26 But there remained two of the men in the camp, the name of the one was Eldad, and the name of the other Medad: and the spirit rested upon them; and they were of them that were written, but went not out unto the tabernacle: and they prophesied in the camp. THE SPIRIT OF GOD GUIDES INTO ALL TRUTH Joh_16:13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come. 1Jn_4:6 We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth not us. Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error. REACTIONS OF PEOPLE THAT RECEIVED THE SPIRIT OF GOD 1. Some spoke in tongues Act_19:6 And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Ghost came on them; and they spake with tongues, and prophesied. 2. Some prophesied Luk 1:67 And his father Zacharias was filled with the Holy Ghost, and prophesied, saying, Act_19:6 And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Ghost came on them; and they spake with tongues, and prophesied.
