HOW TO PACK A VINTAGE AMP FOR SAFE TRANSIT If this violates group policy then please take it down. Every other amp that arrives at my shop is improperly packed and gets damaged. This can be avoided if you follow the steps below. when you but an amp from afar, demand that they pack properly. Begin by removing the tubes and packing them is a small box and place it in the bottom of the amp. Pack the inside of the amp with newspaper to support the speakers and baffle. Wrap plain cardboard around the amp tightly and tape securely. Place the cardboard wrapped amp in a larger box with 2-3 of bubble wrap, foam or crushed newspaper. Peanuts are worthless unless they are in individual 1 qt.plastic bags so they wont move around. Posted below are some pics of a champ I packed and shipped this week. I triple boxed the amp for even more protection. The shippers of today have millions of packages to move and handling is done with big equipment and it really takes a beating. The old days are gone so protect a nice piece of history so the next generation can enjoy them just as we do.
