HOW TO PRACTICALLY OPERATE IN GODS SHOES (PT. 17) There are four things that can happen when the seed of righteousness, which is Gods will expressed through His word is cast upon the hearts of men. One is that the seed may not even germinate at all. The bible describes the state of heart of these kind of people as a wayside. Those by the wayside are the ones who hear; then the devil comes and takes away the word out of their hearts, lest they should believe and be saved. (Luke 8:12 NKJV) The things you find by the wayside are things discarded as useless by travellers and regarded as useless by other travellers. Birds usually find enough to eat by the roadside than in the middle of the road. When a persons mind is set on a destination or committed to an outcome, it is usually impossible to get them to even consider something else without first bringing them to a STOP, usually by something remarkable. They regard every other advice, idea or information as irrelevant, these end up outside their current highway, by the wayside, where the enemy feasts on them. Moses would have continued running from his crime in Egypt and may probably never realise his call to go back if God did not stop him with the burning bush. If God had not stopped him to listen with a bright light from heaven and blindness, the preachings of the apostles would have continued falling on Sauls wayside because he was committed to Judaism. If the storm had not come and threatened the life of his shipmates, Jonah would have continued running to Tarshish. It takes more than mere words to get an unbeliever who has tasted power from some spiritual organisation, or who is convinced of some false hope about life to stop and consider the gospel. You will have a hard time getting a naturally good person to take your preaching serious if your life is not better than that of the Pharisee. As believers we can make it easier for some unbelievers to come to Christ if we grow to that point where our lives are louder than our voice. We will take this further and make it clearer tomorrow.
