HOW TO SPOT A GENUINE DEVOTEE Such person is simple, does not look for quarrel. He is mild and friendly in his demeanor. He will always stand up for the truth, and so being surrendered to the Lord under all circumstances, he does not avoid the truth. He is open to dialog. Not so genuine devotees, although they may fake well, they will not want to carry on much of a meaningful dialog, specially when it comes to speaking about actually important and serious issues, the ones that may involve practical suggestions to a problem or concern. In fact they will want to avoid any real and immediate practical solutions, power hungry that they are, and they will want to always linger on sudo-philosophical terms. And particularly if such non-genuine individual is an authority of some kind, any problems and concerns are ultimately not really answered or resolved, short term or long term. A genuine devotee does not place himself as superior to others, and he simply wants the truth, to hear the truth, to speak the truth, and he shows genuine concern for the suffering and anxiety of others under any circumstance. A genuine devotee is down to earth and he will always speak about Krishna, having also intelligently addressed any issue in practical and satisfactory terms. The genuine devotee will inspire you, he will not bring you down. His preaching and his general attitude is not meant to bring attention to himself but to bring you closer to Krishna, and in doing so he preaches to uplift others and to offer hope, done out of genuine compassion for all who approach him.
