HOt off the Press! [The proposed Woodfibre LNG Limited (WLNG) project could either propel Squamish into economic heaven to fuel Asia’s rising powers or turn it into an environmental eyesore, depending on who you ask. A slight majority of Squamish residents believe it’s the latter in voting an LNG critic as mayor to head up a mostly anti-LNG council in the November 15 municipal election. The district that only recently struggled to stay afloat effectively has told the company and its Singapore parent, Pacific Oil & Gas Limited, to take its billions elsewhere.
