HRC has been certified as sustainable by the Forest Stewardship - TopicsExpress

HRC has been certified as sustainable by the Forest Stewardship Council. Their certification renewal and audit is approaching in mid August. This is a great opportunity to research and comment on the inconsistencies in their forest stewardship and what their certification requires. We will be posting more on this including the FSC standards. For now, wed like to find people interested in brainstorming poignant talking points and developing the discussion. The FSC is very open to suggestions. We are excited for the chance to save the integrity of the Mattole watershed through these discussions and enforce the HRCs compliance to their responsibilities. Although their Complex maps project sensitive practices, the on the ground reality of the plans the HRC has for the Rainbow Ridge complex is a different story. Wavering definitions of old-growth, canopy cover retention and slope instability demands an outside monitor. In this late stage of climate concern, greenwashing this sensitive areas extraction as sustainable is absurd. Since the HRC took ownership of the company, they have enjoyed the trust of the community. It;s our hope to continue that trend. Please share your thoughts.
