HRVATSKA (Zadar) The band’s first appearance took place in Rijeka (Croatia) in January 2003 and initially its members were: Karlo Horvat (vocals/guitar), Rade Malobabic (guitar), Marko Vladilo (bass guitar) and Igor Malobabic (drums). The easiest way to describe the music played by this band at its initial phase was as melodic death metal. Downfall’s first promo material was made in February 2004 and it contains two songs – Point Of No Return and Sign Of Betrayal. Their demo received nothing but positive reviews from different magazines and metal e-zines (Cmar-net, United Forces magazine, Hard and Heavy magazine – to name just a few) and all of them predicted a bright future for the band. What followed was signing the short term contract deal with Dallas records due to releasing two compilations “Strašni Riječani” and “New Underground: Hard hitters from Croatia” on both of which their two new songs “B.l.e.a.k.” and “Second” can be found. Playing on numerous shows and festivals al over Croatia they have left impressive marks with their energetic and powerful performances and established themselves as a young, perspective band, competent for much larger music scene. However, as time passed the influences have changed and after a while the band was turned off by a vast majority of bands copying themselves, trying to be heavier, more technical and brutal than ever, somehow forgetting the idea of writing good music. Thus they have decided to make a step forward and make a change. Band’s frontman, Karlo Horvat, former guitarist and vocalist, decided to devote himself more to singing and developing his vocal style, even though he is still making and writing music for the band. After a long and tiresome search they have found a fifth member, Neven Vukic who replaced him on the guitar. They wanted to symbolize that change with a new band name. Due to numerous Downfalls worldwide they have decided to change their name into Kryn, a name that represents a band in a lot of ways different than Downfall. Important thing to mention is that Igor had a severe right arm injury. He nearly cut off his entire pinkie in a “tire-changing” exhibition. Igor had 5 operations so far and an artificial joint, and this, off course, stopped the band’s activities for over a year. Most importantly, after all of the pain and torture he had gone through, he has now recovered well enough to be able to play drums, and things are finally going the way we want them to. Band has finally finished their long awaited EP. It will contain five completely new songs including well known “Hurt” that they did in their own, distinctive way and an acoustic version of the song “B.l.e.a.k.”
