HRs violating clauses to be reviewed: Talha Mahmood ISLAMABAD: Senator Talha Mahmood Saturday has said that new Anti-terrorism bill was under review by the Senate and its relevant body and there were plenty of flaws in the bill which needs to be redressed.After chairing the sitting the Senate Standing Committee for Interior here the Chairman Committee senator Talha Mahmood termed the new Anti-terrorism bill a top priority of the committee. He said that some of the clauses present in the bill were against the human rights following which the body would review the bill and would revise the particular clauses on merit. Elaborating further he mentioned that the committee has sought the services of the legal experts.Over arms licenses he mentioned that issuance of the arms licenses has not been organized and needs a clear policy in this connection, saying that committee was reviewing the arms licensing issue.Over the recent statement by the Federal Minister for Interior Rehman Malik he maintained that Malik should have avoided such statements without solid evidence and he should avoid commenting about sacred places.Earlier the sitting of the body held under the chairmanship of Senator Talha Mahmood in which members of the body including Jamal Laghari, Sughra Imam, Almas Perveen, Abdul Malik, Najma Hameed and Kazim Khan participated.While giving a briefing to the members of the body the SSP Rawalpindi Asif Yaseen informed that 68 search operations were conducted by the police in Rawalpindi and outskirts during which 2600 houses and 5193 suspicious persons were checked, following which action was introduced against 311 suspicious persons.  He added that during year 2011 total number of murder cases registered in Rawalpindi was 181, out of which only five remained untraced. He said that in current year 484 car theft cases were reported in which 114570000 vehicles were stolen and 37745000 vehicles were recovered by the police, however 181 cases remained untraced. "11 cases of the kidnapping for ransom were registered and redressed by the Rawalpindi police," he added. RPO police Zubair while responding the queries of the members told the body that the search operations were conducted by police following some credible information and there was no complaint logged against any of search operations. *(Posted on 2 years ago in The Frontier Post)
