HS-22 Very soon, some of my closer friends from the OCF (Overseas - TopicsExpress

HS-22 Very soon, some of my closer friends from the OCF (Overseas Christian Fellowship) heard about the breakup and was very concerned for me. They were skeptical when I told them that I was ok. They just could not believe that I could get over my heartbreak so soon, so fast but it was true. I thank God for giving me that comfort and peace. In 1982, I completed my studies in the Bachelor of Economics program. I was initially majoring in Accounting and Computer Science. It was to be a 4 year program. My first year was quite smooth sailing. The second year was tougher but during my third year, I had to give up Computer Science as I found it too tough to cope. I was not able to catch up with the sudden steep learning curve required for Computer Science. I also did not have much time to study since I was using a lot of my free time to work at 2 to 3 jobs during term. Still, I was thankful to God for my average results. I never once failed although it was common for many to fail some of the tougher accounting subjects. It was a humbling decision to drop one of the majors. I was even called up to the Education Department to explain and I was glad they accepted my explanation and decision without much questioning. After dropping my double major, I had more time in my final year. I packed all my classes into 3 days so that I could have 2 free days for work. My weekly schedule was predictable. I attended classes, completed assignments, went to work, and attended OCF and church meetings. I took every opportunity to explore Victoria as I love nature. I would organize activities for my OCF Care Group. I also enjoyed organizing outdoor trips and picnics for small groups of friends. I loved bush walking, hiking, winter skiing, bird and wildlife watching and totally took in the beautiful fauna and landscape around Victoria. I also took up nature photography to capture scenes I wanted to remember. Thoughts of staying on after my studies often came to mind but I was very focused with a mission to go home. After the breakup, I concentrated on finishing my studies and worked as much as I could to save money for home. There were many wonderful and pretty sisters at Monash and the OCF but I was not about to get involved in another relationship. It was only after my fourth year that I developed feelings for another girl. It was a bit awkward for us as she was like my little sister all along. Just before I was to head home for good, I decided to ask her to consider starting a special relationship with me. I told her to take her time to think about it and I left for home soon after my graduation in April 1983.
