HS Boys Basketball Results vs. Bartlett The Buffalo JV-A and Varsity teams played their first home games of the season on Tuesday night against the visiting Bartlett Bulldogs. The JV team started off the evening with a 70-17 thrashing of the visitors. The team was led in scoring by Matt Edgar with 20 points, but every player on the squad put up points for the Buffs. It was an outstanding offensive and defensive display by the Buffaloes who never gave the Bulldogs a chance to get back into the game. The next action for the JV-A team will be on Friday at Stampede Gym when they will face Belton Providence. The JV-B team will be participating in the Jarrell tournament on Thursday-Saturday. The Buffalo Varsity team started out their game with some accurate shooting and pesky defense to take an early lead against Bartlett. Mason Lansford and Alfredo Pena paced the Buffs who went in at halftime with a 13 point lead. The beginning of the third period was also dominated by the Buffs, and they extended the lead to 19 points. Unfortunately, the visiting Bulldogs shooting improved and they began closing the gap. In the fourth period the lack of scoring by the Buffs and the tough Bulldog defense allowed the visitors to catch up. A three-pointer by Bartlett with 4 seconds to go in the game tied the score at 40. On the inbounds pass, Alfredo Pena was fouled with just 6 tenths of a second remaining in the game. He was able to make one of his two free-throws and the Buffs inbounded the ball safely which ended the game with a victory 41-40. The Buffs are in action again on Saturday with a game against Holland which will be played at the Cedar Park Center.
