HS Boys Basketball results vs Blanco: The Buffalo JV-A and Varsity teams traveled to Blanco on Jan. 2nd to open up district play against the hometown Panthers. The JV squad played stifling defense for the first three quarters and Matt Edgar (18 pts) and CJ Giddens (8 pts) scored often on the stunned Blanco team. It was a very convincing win to open up the district schedule for the young Buffs. Blanco was never really in the game and Florence won by the final score of 44-28. The Varsity game was a very entertaining contest. Blanco jumped out to an early lead on the excited Buffs, but the lead was slowly eaten away by good defense and improved shooting in the second quarter. The Buffs outscored the Panthers in the third period to close the margin to one point. The game stayed close throughout the fourth quarter, but some clutch free throws in the final minutes of the game allowed the Panthers to sneak out with the win 43-39. The Buffs will be in action again on Tuesday, January 6th, when they go to Georgetown Gateway for their second district contest.
