HUGE SIGH OF RELIEF... Some of you guys know and some of you dont: I injured myself while performing 4.5 weeks ago. Originally the doctor at the ER told me it was a sprain and I would be recovered in 4-6 weeks. At the 4 week mark, I still wasnt able to put ANY weight on my foot and I still have very little movement in my ankle/foot. Got to my doctor and he ordered a MRI. Had the MRI done last Thursday and the results came in on Friday. The idiot lady at the doctors office told me that I was needing to be referred to an orthopedic surgeon and that the only one in my insurance network was up in Vista (for those of you not familiar with San Diego, thats about a 50 minute drive north of where I live). She also told me that there was definitely a sprain AND tear of the ligament(s). She didnt say anything else other than that the surgeon would be able to give me the results of the MRI and let me know if I needed treatment or rehab or surgery or maybe nothing... I have been freaking out a bit for the last several days HOPING that I dont need surgery. Finally got referred to a podiatrist (NOT an ortho like she said) went to see him today and he read the MRI and told me that it was just a really bad sprain and that it might take a total of 3 months to fully heal. Even though 3 months is quite a while to have to be off of my foot, I am SO INCREDIBLY GRATEFUL AND THANKFUL that I dont have to have surgery and that the bones and tendons are fine. I have two partial tears in the ligaments on one side of my ankle and a full tear on the other side. Doc said that it would just take some time, but damn am I glad that it wasnt more serious. :D :D :D :D Just have to wear this boot now for the next 3 weeks or so and then it should start getting a lot better and I can start Physical Therapy. Thanks to everyone for all the well wishes throughout this and the thoughts and prayers for quick recovery. A very special thanks to my honey, Ruizu for all the love, support and car rides to and from work (and everywhere else. LOL) I wouldve gone NUTS without you Luis!!
