HUSBANDS.....READ YOUR BIBLES! II Timothy 2:15 Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. As much as we men may dislike school or studies, God commands us to study. I personally am uncomfortable in a controlled situation, forced to sit down and study, but it’s my assignment and therefore it gets done. And don’t forget, we are not being approved by man or even our spouses, we are approved by God. We have been taught proper study habits so that we could pass a math or a science class. Well, when we read God’s Word we are studying life. We will be tested, not at some point down the road, but we are tested each and every day. We MUST know the answers. We don’t read the Bible like we read a novel or the newspaper. We will be taught by God’s Holy Spirit to “rightly divide the Word of truth” Let me use my favorite scripture to illustrate what I mean. It’s John 17:3 and in my eyes there really isn’t a more important scripture in the Bible. And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent. Okay, let’s “rightly divide” this truth. Jesus is telling the crowd what eternal life is. I mean, WOW! If there is only one thing that anybody anywhere at anytime would tell me, the one thing that I would want, it would be how can I live forever! I mean, really, what else could surpass that!. Jesus is going to tell us how to live forever. You ask most Christians what life eternal is and you would get many answers, but here, Jesus says you gotta know and believe 5 things to live forever. Number 1...we must know God Number 2 ...we must know He is the ONLY TRUE God Number 3…we must know Jesus…and Christ is not His last name, it’s His title… Number 4…we must know Jesus as the Anointed One….the Messiah Number 5…we must know He has been sent by God…He is God’s only Messiah for us That is how we are to read the Bible. Taking time, chewing on what God’s Spirit is saying. And guys, be real, we break down the baseball box scores every day, we mull over fantasy team selections, what sports fan doesn’t know how many Super Bowls the Cowboys have won or who is the home run king. We know that stuff because we choose to take time and digest what facts we are handed. Now, we need to digest the Word of God as it’s been written. We don’t add to it, we don’t change it. We don’t allow someone else to explain what they think it means. The Holy Spirit reveals truths to us….so let’s get going guys. Time is short, time is running out, time is here and time is now and its about time we manifest all of who and what we were meant to be.
