HWNGOSSIPS: A housewife last week accused her newly wedded co-wife (names withheld) of hitting her head on the wall during a fight. The victim, who reported the case to the Kano State Hisbah Board, said the bride had beaten her up during a fight last Tuesday, before smashing her head against the wall, causing her to sustain serious injury in the forehead. According to the residents of Sharada Industrial area of Kano metropolis where the scuffle happened, the women in the dispute were fighting over their husband. “The man has three wives and on that fateful day, the second and the third wives were exchanging words claiming to be his favourite. But when the altercation persisted, the bride being stronger than the second wife decided to silence her,” a source said. The victim, who spoke to reporters, however said she was a victim of an unprovoked attack. “I was sitting by the well when she caught me unawares and started beating me and before I knew what was happening, she had smashed my head on the wall and blood started gushing out near my eyes,” she said. She said because she could not remember doing anything to offend her alleged attacker, she reported her to Hisbah. The accused person (names withheld) said she regretted her actions and begged the complainant to forgive her. Confirming the incident, spokesperson of the Hisbah board, Muhammad Yusuf Yola, said the two women were settled and advised to live peacefully in their matrimonial home.
