HWNUPDATE: There are over 100 Jigawa State indigenes studying Medicine and Engineering in the United Kingdom,Cyprus, India, Canada,Turkey and China. This was revealed by the state House of Assembly Committee on Education when it presented a report on the state of education. The committee’s chairman, Nasiru Muhammed, said the state is currently considering the possibility of widening its scope of sponsoring more students abroad to study in various professional fields. Mohammed said the government has voted N450 million for scholarships this year. While commenting on the Bilyamunu Usman College of Agriculture in Hadejia, he said the institute was unable to execute any capital project in the first quarter due to lack of adequate funds. The committee recommended that in order to take education to the next level, there is need for the government to purchase vehicles for Local Education Authorities in the 27 council areas. __ SL8.IT for Blackberry
