Ha. Bet ya thought we couldnt post something covering a combination of recent posts, from the the nature of words, the chemical elements, time, space travel; and also, multiple worlds from our previous note (Itself a reference to earlier articles on consciousness, pseudo-science in research papers, wave-functions and a parabola thrown in, courtesy of a Pringle). Ill throw in Calcutta too (home planet of busybee admin.TDK & a bunch of our members). Have ye heard of The Endochronic Properties of Resublimated Thiotimoline? No? It was written by Isaac Asimov in 1948. And its wasnt science-fiction so much as science paper. And it sent hundreds of science students in search of the wonderful properties of this Thiotimoline - some of whose chemical bonds extended into other dimensions. The molecule was so soluble, it dissolved before the addition of water. Heck, it attracted water in the form of tornado formations, in order to correct timelines where water was denied it. It was also observer-dependent, so scientists with multiple personalities had a helluva time experimenting with it. The earliest experiments may have gone as far back as the Sumerians - with devastating consequences. And all of it was wonderfully spoofy. Here be the tale behind it: io9/5887014/meet-thiotimoline-the-chemical-compound-isaac-asimov-invented-to-spoof-boring-science-writing And heres the molecule: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thiotimoline Heres the diagram of that endochronic filter. Plus a reference to another tale - about a goose that can lay golden eggs. Amid attempts to extract the gold chemically, without killing the goose. acsundergrad.wordpress/2013/06/12/the-chemistry-of-science-fiction-isaac-asimovs-chemical-tales/ - ☮.
