Hackers apparently took over the Twitter accounts of two news - TopicsExpress

Hackers apparently took over the Twitter accounts of two news outlets and posted a bogus account of a Chinese ship opening fire on a U.S. vessel. “US Joint Chief of staff: USS George Washington damaged, US navy now engaged in active combat against Chinese vessels in South China sea,” read the tweet sent out by both the New York Post and UPI on Friday. The Post quickly took down the message. “Our Twitter account was briefly hacked and we are investigating,” The Post tweeted at 2:04 p.m. “Our Twitter feed has been hacked,” posted the Post’s Sunday business editor Michael Gray. UPI appeared to gain control of its account by 2 p.m. after tweeting several other outlandish bulletins. Read more, see screenshots/photos at the link.
