Had I known in advance that LEFT BEHIND was about the rapture, I - TopicsExpress

Had I known in advance that LEFT BEHIND was about the rapture, I would not have gone to see it, but I hadnt, and I did. At first I thought it was one of the dumbest movies ever, and I couldnt believe Nicolas Cage was in it. This is mostly because I couldnt buy that whole rapture thing. Upon further reflection, I thought that since movies themselves are a kind of metaphor for life, what if I think of this rapture bit as a metaphor as well? Looking at LEFT BEHIND from this point of view makes the film a little more palatable. The rapture could be a metaphor for making choices, taking responsibility, and accepting consequences. From this POV there is a meaningful message in the film. I only wish the writers could have found a better way to convey it.
