Had Steven Spielbergs epic flop 1941 playing on Netflix as I drew - TopicsExpress

Had Steven Spielbergs epic flop 1941 playing on Netflix as I drew this afternoon. I havent seen this thing since it came out in December 1979, probably with you Mike Kukral, at a mall theater that is long closed. Actually, not as bad as its rep. Stupid, and loud, but not horrible. Last time I watched this, I was home on Christmas break after my first quarter at Ohio State. I had just turned 19. I was licking my wounds after my first love affair had crashed and burned just before exams. I was back on the garbage truck over break, picking up trash during several blizzards. In fact, Im working on a winter scene in Trashed right now, inspired by this experience! But I had figured out what I was going to do with my life... I would try to land a cartooning spot at the school paper, The Lantern! I spent evenings and weekends drawing a sample portfolio. When I returned to school, I marched into the newsroom... and was laughed out the door! Carter was still in the White House, the Iranians had just seized the hostages and the Berlin Wall was still standing. Damn, it was a lifetime ago.
