Had a chance to sit down for a second at kangaroo and I thought of - TopicsExpress

Had a chance to sit down for a second at kangaroo and I thought of a ramble/gripe. Im hoping to stay on topic and be as straightforward as possible but with that being said, but maybe its me but it seems like today knowledge is treated like how a vampire treats garlic. People seem to run from learning and wanting to better themselves or if they do they are just content with learning JUST enough to get them to the next plateau. I am a nerd. Nowadays you can be called a nerd simply because you have eccentric tastes and thats to be expected, definitions expand and change over time. To me though the original definition is a person who avidly seeks out knowledge. Knowing one or two things is never good enough. You are on a quest for it, you absorb it and assimilate it, kinda like the Borg from TNG (had to slip a nerd reference in there). My point is, maybe if everyone were seekers of knowledge, mediocrity wouldnt be the norm, ignorance wouldnt be the norm, being sheep would not be their norm. We would know what it takes to make the economy better, we would know how unfairly we abuse our resources and we would know that if we have a problem with government, WE have the power to change it. I always want to have my thirst for knowledge. I never want to stop learning. I am a nerd and I let my Geek flag fly with pride.
