Had a conversation with a downline that went something like this; Them Jamie, you never called when I stopped my activity or producing - Im really disappointed Me Why, Im not your boss? Them I wanted you to tell me to up my game First point to remember that if your Why doesnt inspire or motivate you every SINGLE DAY, its not big enough and you need another. Second, we are self employed business owners - with all the trappings and pitfalls that brings... the good thing, we do what we like, the bad thing, we do what we like. Self discipline, motivation and commitment are three qualities that you require in abundance. Im all for giving my team and certainly personal clients a pep talk (we even sometimes have indicators where I see them doing too much of the wrong thing and I have pre approved permission to come down on their ass... but this doesnt apply to everyone automatically. You need to value your time, and only give it to those who pay attention and are producing - anything else and youre just wasting your own time and theirs. As a newbie, you need to be focussed and disciplined, not rely on an upline to hold your hand (maybe initially) and be your boss. It really is a fine balance, but as a mentor and a leader there is only so much you can do - as a new starter all the hard work is with you. Anyone who tells you otherwise is lying to you to get a quick sale.
